Before the film show started, "Brenograph Slides" were shown to advertise coming attractions or to promote products. These were glass slides 82mm (3.2 inches) square. Usually with elaborate artwork, these slides were a simple way of introducing an audience to a new record by playing the song and showing a series of slides to illustrate the words.They were shown before the show and at the interval and sometimes after the show.

In the late 1950s, the format of some of these slides was altered to reflect the wide screen and were widened to 107mm (42 inches).
